The long-awaited Audez'e LCD-3 headphones were introduced in early October 2011 at the Rocky Mountain Audio Festival and made available to a hungry audiophile public in late December. The most obvious differences between the LCD-2 and LCD-3 models is a markedly deeper extension at the edges of the frequency range -- both high and low -- along with a more tactile sense of ambient textures and 'room sound' evident in the soundstage image presentation. For classical and symphonic fans in particular, the improved spatiality nicely opens up the orchestra and allows for near-perfect 'floating' placement of instrumental voices in the recording space. Jazz fans will delight hearing the sizzle of ride cymbals sans edge or grit anchored by the silky, potent pulse of upright double bass carried on transparent sheets of horns and reeds. Rockin' rollers into well-produced modern rock or prog will delve deep into the gauzy layers of electric guitars underneath all your favorite recordings, making for a revelatory listening experience every time you use your Audez'e LCD-3. Listeners can expect a beefier tone in the bass with a bit more low-end heft than before, but with improved tonal control of the lowest Adam's Apple-wobbling bass note. The Audez'e LCD-3 headphones are beautifully hand-built one at a time by highly skilled USA artisans. The earcups are real Zebrano wood which is both durable and resists vibrational artifacts from ingressing into the drivers or earcup frames. Ergonomically sloped earpad cushions are real leather and extremely soft. The overall weight of the LCD-3 remains similar to the LCD-2 which can be a problem for listeners preferring lightweight headphones -- which these are not. The LCD-3's detachable headphone cable sports a wonderfully secure, easy-to-use push-pin cable clip design that outclasses any of the other detachable cord systems we've seen in this multi kilo-buck category. The cable itself is a superb high-quality 'Y'-braid that extends about 8ft and terminates a full-size 1/4" stereo plug. The free (and awesomely extended) 3-year LCD-3 manufacturer's warranty is serviced exclusively by Audez'e in their own USA facility.
About Audez'e Unique Planar Driver Headphone Technology
First, the driver moves in a more direct piston-like manner due to the even application of force by the magnetic field surrounding the diaphragm, which reduces distortion artifacts. Second, the diaphragm is mounted on all sides, reducing fatigue points; Planar Magnetic speakers employ a tough polymer as the base material, which makes it much more durable than cone diaphragms. Third, because the diaphragm is ultra thin, it's also more responsive, leading to faithful sound reproduction and the crispness of tone that is the hallmark of quality speakers. And finally, because it is perfectly flat, planar-magnetic drivers can dissipate heat more quickly using the large surface area of the diaphragm itself, which dramatically reduces the chances of burn-out.

Wow, hear this thing
it need plenty more power to drive than my old one wow,
My amp is going to get real work to do, with the Denon's volume used to be:
35% on amp
20-25% on pc
lol
Barely breaking a swet, but with this phones i had to feed the amp
50% and 35% on pc.
OMG, hear that bass. what d BBQ!.
Money well spent! And the phones haven't even been broken in yet, I've heard it have to hit 100hrs before it sounds "good" and 200hrs before it reach its max potential!

This headphones sounds like a speaker on your head, but with all d clarity and quality of a headphones.
OMG! i just put back on my denons, what the hell was I listening to for the past 2 years?
It sounds, thin, and lifeless. Was this the same headphones I've been using all along? Was this the best sound my ears ever heard? I cant believe, this is d best thing my ears ever heard, sounding like this now.
I didn't expect the difference to be THAT! Huge, cause like all change in quality (Audio or Video) you doesn't know how better it is until you go back. So I said ok, time to go back, my face got a very confused look, WOW, This D7000 was sounding soooooo good before, what the hell!
I put on 90% bass and this old headphones still struggling to keep up with the LCD-3, wow!
This is a very very very veyr VERY! Addictive and DANGEROUS hobby
You know why? Seeing that i push my amp to 50% to drive this monster, now I'm wondering
what a more powerful amp could do

The Denon D7000 is a great headphones, truly epic in its own right.
But the Audez'e LCD-3 has taken the bar, and destroyed it, it exists on it's own scale, in it's own corner of the universe!….now to get back to listening!
