Applications:
It's tough following on the heels of one of the most successful 'on-ear' sealed headphones ever, but the DENON AH-D1100 almost lives up to its famous forebearer, the [discontinued] DENON AH-D1001. Larger 50mm dome drivers (versus 40mm for the D1001) along with slightly bigger earcup dimensions provide full musical body and big bottom-end authority with a deep tone that blooms with hip-hop, blues and modern rock recordings. If not correctly amped with some audio sources, the AH-D1100 potent low-bass response can sound slightly uncontrolled as it supports pleasing vocal midranges transitioning into smooth upper treble definition. Demanding classical & symphonic fans seeking extreme upper highs transparency and soundstage 'air' (depth) may find themselves wanting for more resolution in the top-most edges of the frequency range. The new earcup cushions on the AH-D1100 verge on true 'full-size' dimensions and will plushly surround the ears on most wearers. These larger, softer DENON earpad cushions and the closed-back construction helps provide isolation and good listening privacy, a handy plus for the office cubicle, dorm room or city park.
The DENON AH-D1100 has a circumaural ('around the ear') construction design and come in a framed black on gun-metal earcup/headband color scheme -- way hip -- with the classic DENON logo emblazoned across the outer earcups. The non-detachable, modular cord arrangement allows for short cable runs or a longer runs when employing the included extension cords for those needing a longer reach to their audio source. The new DENON earpad cushions are a soft, nuzzly glove-leather material that is durable for the long haul and won't dry out and rot in any climate. The free 1-year manufacturer's warranty is serviced exclusively through the DENON-USA facility located in Mahwah, New Jersey USA.
