Earbuds are the small headphones that commonly come with portable players. They seat in the concha, the cupped area around the ear canal in the center of your outer ear, and they do not block outside noise.  Also see our selection of in ear headphones which are similar to earbuds, but block significant noise and offer a more secure fit.  Usually earbuds are very efficient so they can be used directly with iPods and portable players.
