These could just still be our favorite '$50-and-under' headphone. The Koss Porta-Pro are a killer-sounding portable headphone at a very strong price. Matter of fact, picky headphone afficionados universally declare the Koss can actually sound better than some mobile headphone designs costing twice the price. If you have an iPod, iPad, MP3 player, laptop/PC computer, tabletop radio, portable CD/DVD/MiniDisc player, WalkMan or other portable audio device, these little cans will perform wonderfully for all music genres. The Porta-Pro likely remain amongst the clearest-sounding & best musically detailed mobile headphones suitable for all your portable audio needs. Moreover, that sweet Koss manufacturer's lifetime warranty sure doesn't hurt any; If you accidentally break 'em or if the speaker drivers decide head south in a few years, Koss will repair or replace the headphones as long as you keep the original 'Koss authorized dealer' receipt -- like the one you'll get from HeadRoom!
The long-running Koss Porta-Pro product design is pretty unique in the category: Two small pads on the sides of the Porta-Pro headband allow the headphones to rest simultaneously on your ears and cushion on the sides of the head, giving these headphones an extremely secure feel in active applications like during heavy exercise or gym work. The earpieces collapse inward and the headband ingeniously curls up to clip at each end, allowing the cans to fold down quite small for storage or travel. The Porta-Pro's 'Y'-type cord is connected at each earpiece by a short straight-type 4.5ft cable and the cord terminates to a 1/8" (3.5mm) mini-plug jack. A full-size 1/4" plug adapter is handily included in the Koss package. Lifetime Koss warranty -- oooh, yeah!

Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Light, fold up small, sound really good
Cons: Earpieces come off easily
The only complaint is that the ear pieces come apart, and it doesn't take much to make them come apart. They snap back together just fine, but I'm sure the cycle of coming apart and snapping together is going to hasten the end for these.
And, they really look odd. Retro? Maybe. Kind of kit-ish. Don't judge them by their looks. They really are great buys in the ultra-light small portable category.

Pros: Sound quality & comfort
Cons: Can't really think of any
I have other phones, primarily a beloved set of Grado RS2s, which are phenomenal, so it is NOT that I have no point of comparison. Regardless, these phones are not just great 'for the money,' they are just great. It goes to show that proper and careful engineering can do wonders.
Are they perfect? Of course not. They are a bit pronounced in the midrange, ever-so-slightly boxy in sound character and they don't isolate noise, which makes them a bit less suitable for airplane use, etc. Compared to the Grados, they aren't as open-sounding and 'airy.' But they only cost about as much as I paid for the TAX on the Grados!
I'm not really a fan of Koss products in general. I've tried higher and lower priced offerings from their lineup, and have usually ended up giving them away. But not these. In fact, in my mind, a pair of PortaPros and a pair of good high-enders are ALL you need. For some, maybe a pair of noise-canceling cans, but even the best of these either annoy you by being stuck in your ear or sound terrible, as the leading active-noise-canceling offering does. For me, I'm willing to put up with a little extra background noise. What I get back is sound quality and comfort.
