The Sennheiser HD438 has sealed/closed circumaural (around the ear) full-size earcups that tend to largely encircle the ear for most wearers. The earcups offer a very lightweight, non-clamping comfortable fit with a mild degree of ambient noise 'isolation' due to the fairly loose around-the-ear style. The attractive silver spoke design on the outer earcups sure brings some much-needed coolster bling to the traditional grey/black Sennheiser approach and is sure to make these a favorite of on-the-move city listeners rocking iPods, laptops, and MP3 players during their travels. The headband is very lighweight and designed for maximum durability for the long-haul so rest assured the lightness doesn't equal poor build quality! The HD438 headphone cord exits from the left earcup and extends about 10.5 feet with the help of the provided almost 3-meter extension cord before terminating to a straight mini-plug 1/8" [3.5mm] jack. A 1/4" stereo adapter is handily provided by Sennheiser.
