Color us impressed when we heard these headphones for the first time. It's been quite clear since the dawn of time (back in 2003) that Skullcandy is not your father's headphone company. But this step into big-time sound quality was unexpected -- and most welcome -- by us deep music lovers and demanding audiophiles who love great headphones. With the Aviator, listeners of all stripes will enjoy the kind of well-balanced musical detail heretofore unheard in Skullcandy headphones. Even-toned, controlled bass response that's anything but boomy alongside smooth mids and clear, albeit forward-sounding, highs sans treble screech make us happy to say the Aviators are cool cans well worth considering not just for their cutting-edge style, but also for some of the nicest acoustic performance heard around this price. Your hipster dad would approve.
The Skullcandy Aviator headphones offer neo-authentic aviator flyer looks reminiscent of the cans bush pilots may have used back in the day. Mid-sized 'circumaural' earlobe coverage ear pieces and nifty translucent color scheme complete the style picture. The featherweight outer shell is a sunglass-quality, impact resistant lens proprietary to Skullcandy; if you peer into the earcups in just the right light, the internal driver structures will become opaquely visible inside -- a rad touch! Wire-rim aluminum frame accents featuring the classic SKDY shiny skull logo nattily add support to the headband. Handsome form-fitting leather travel bag included. The Aviator works with iPod, iPhone, iTouch or iPad and its Apple player control + mic is housed directly on the thin tech-flex headphone cord; the 3-button operation itself works seamlessly but the housing itself feels a bit too lightweight and more chintzy than we'd ideally like.

Pros: cool looking, comfortable, phone mic
Cons: didn't sound great, kind of tin-y
i went back to my bose on-ear fold up ugly headphones i've had for years and years. they sound so much better. they were around the same price. i don't think bose makes these any longer.
it's probably the girl in me who needs my portable headphones to look great too, but until i find cool looking, comfortable phones that sound better than my cruddy scratched up dumb looking bose, i'm apparently stuck.
