These large, burnished olive-gold, full-sized headphones are quite lightweight and built super-tough. Sennheiser is known for its extraordinary materials quality, and these headphones are as sturdy as they are good-sounding. The HD-485's efficient 32-ohm impedance rating should mean plenty of output from basically any portable audio source without requiring the use of a dedicated headphone amp -- although any amp will certainly up the dynamics & musical detail resolution capabilities of the HD-485. The large, circular earpads are covered in a soft fabric material that surrounds but never crowds the ear. The headband mechanism slides in and out on both sides for an easy, secure fit. The single-sided detachable headphone cord is connected to the left earpiece and terminates in a large, straight 1/8" mini-plug (3.5mm) with an included screw-on ¼" inch adapter which you can shove into your home stereo system for sweet jams.
