Ultimate Ears makes a return to HeadRoom with one of the most awesome in-ear headphone values we've layed our ears upon, the UE700 dual driver in-ear monitors. Sporting just about the tiniest earpiece design offered by any dual driver design on the market, the Ultimate Ears UE700 dimensions will easily fit most ears -- even ones with smaller-than-average ear canals -- without issue. An extremely good array of seven eartip pairs in five sizes and two material types is provided by Ultimate Ears within the UE700 package; one of those tip pairs should be perfect for 98% of listeners out there. Sonically, the musical definition and detail accuracy of the UE700 was outstanding with a deep-toned, full bass response (courtesy of the dedicated low-end driver) supporting airy extended highs and well-focused, fully developed vocal midranges. Compared to the next dual driver in-ear we carry at about twice the price, the UE700 held its ground and delivered an extremely engaging, detailed sound that nearly rivaled its significantly more expensive competition. Although not required, the 40-Ohm UE700 mated beautifully with a headphone amp, increasing the instrumental heft and body of the music while also clarifying recording nuances and timbral transparency. The Ultimate Ears UE700 are a heck of a deal in 'audiophile-quality' in-ears and earn our highest HeadRoom recommendation!
The Ultimate Ears UE700 headphone comes from a long line of high-quality in-ear designs dating back to the pioneering UE 'Super.Fi' models back in the early 2000s. The UE700 package includes seven pairs of proprietary eartip sets in both silicone and foam materials, which is amongst the best selection of 'universal fit' ear sleeves offered by any in-ear manufacturer and greatly assists achieving that all-important personalized fit. Remember, the free 2-year free manufacturer's repair-or-replace service warranty remains in place only with your HeadRoom authorized 'Logitech/UE dealer' purchase receipt.

Pros: Sound quality on portable devices
Cons: Cord durability questionable
Two things to beware of: the cord is both short and VERY thin. Amazon is riddled with reviews of people who have had problems with the cord connections, so these are not headphones to be treating badly. Luckily the case is hard-sided and will stand up to travel a bit better than the soft-side Ety case (although I will say that the Ety cord is FAR superior and shows no wear after 8 years). Oh, and there's no shirt clip, in case you were used to that.
Bottom line: I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase so far. I'm just breaking these puppies in, and the sound is wonderful. I don't even have to turn up the volume as far as I did with my Etymotics. Something about the build in these phones really delivers the volume! My only real problem is that Amazon dropped the price by $50 two days after I ordered them... but that's just my bad luck! :)
