The strict Beyerdynamic DT-770 German engineering is simply rock-solid and will provide many years of durable listening reliability. The DT 770 earpads are made from a wonderfully soft velour that's nicely cool and comfortable for long hours of listening pleasure. The closed-back 'semi-sealed' earcup construction does provide a bit of ambient noise isolation. However, those soft velour cushions do not offer a particularly thorough seal against ambient environmental noise intrusion.
As an alternative, the beyerdynamic DT 770 32 Ohm version is easier to drive with most portable devices and comes with leather earpads that typically offer mildly improved noise isolation (by a few decibels).
For one of the very best sealed-back headphones under $300, our Headphone.com staff review opinion is that it's really hard to go wrong with the beyerdynamic DT 770 / 250 Ohm for audiophilic listeners seeking true musical clarity and detail resolution power above all else.
The sole caveat is big booty bass lovers may need to go elsewhere as the Beyer DT 770 are highly analytical headphones with balance, control and smooth elegance as its principal core strengths.
